This unique field session has been specially arranged to photograph Osprey's up close! We will be accompanied by a naturalist that has been banding the Osprey for over 20 years. The large boat is spacious enough to accommodate all the photographers and their gear. Participants may have a chance to help with banding or at least hold a young Osprey depending on how large the young Osprey are. There will be opportunities for flight shots but what stand out about this opportunity is that chance to get up close. Whether you are a photographer or not, it is a great experience!

We will meet at 4:30pm and start with a brief intro by the naturalist about the work he does with the Osprey. After that Nikhil will make sure you have your camera setup for the photography. Once the boat is ready we will get on board and enjoy flight photography as well as opportunities to get very close to the Osprey nests. We expect to get on the boat before 5:30pm and finish around 8:00pm.

Gear recommendations:
While we will have the chance to get super close to a couple of nests, for flight shots a minimum focal length of 400mm is required. Longer focal lengths are suitable as well. No tripods or monopods are allowed on the boat! You want to bring a lens that you can handhold.

Lenses like the 80-400mm, 100-400mm, 200-500mm, 150-600mm are great for handholding. You may bring a 500mm f/4, 600mm f/4 or 800mmf/6.3 lens if you can handhold them for short periods. If we do get a chance to hold the Osprey you could even use a 24-120mm lens! In fact, you could bring your macro lens along (no jokes). Please bring only one camera bag.
Exact meeting location will be sent via email to the registered participants.
